Congressman John Yarmuth and City of Jeffersontown Mayor Bill Dieruf announced in a press conference today a federal investment to fund infastructure improvements and upgrades to the Bluegrass Commerce Park.

The funding, through the Federal Highway Administration's Transportation, Community and System Preservation Program (TCSP) is a $447,750 grant to resurface and rehabilitate the park's roadways, increase safety at key intersections and add a signature entrance to the park.

The improvements were selected as a part of the city's master plan for the park to make the park more competitive in attracting new businesses and retaining current ones.

The park, which is the largest industrial park in Kentucky, encompasses more than 1,800 acres and is home to about 850 businesses and has more than 40,000 workers within it. It represents an estimated annual employment tax base of more than $9 million for the city.

The funding through the Transportation, Community and System Preservation Program is available to states, metropolitan planning organizations and local governments to plan and implement strategies to improve the efficiency of transportation system, reduce enviornmental impacts of transportation and to ensure efficient access to jobs, services and centers of trade.

  1. I loathe spending transport dollars on "signature entryways". I'm no Tea Partier, but seems like abuse to me.
